Precautions to take when using strong magnetic fields
The ESR experiment (7.15) in the undergraduate laboratory
makes use of a strong magnet. There is no evidence that exposure
to the sort of fields generated by this magnet, even long-term exposure, is harmful. However,
for obvious reasons it is wise to remove watches when inserting
samples into the ESR magnet, and to keep credit cards and similar
items away from the magnet.
